Postcards from the middle 7/21/25

I’m waiting impatiently for our move to Seattle. Here’s my attempt at finding the beauty in the middle, however messy it all is.

Carla’s fish cake recipe always on repeat. Such an easy, delish low-carb staple.

I’m obsessed with these new short glasses from acopa. They’re perfect for a larger cocktail and my afternoon iced coffee.

I moved this furniture under the cabana when we listed the house and we’ve been wondering why it wasn’t here all along.

No matter the temp, he always wants to be under a blanket.

My bronze fennel usually has aphids by this point in the season rendering it useless for bouquets. So glad it’s holding out.

We’ve been batching dirty gin martinis and keeping them in the freezer. 1.5 c. Hendrix gin, 3/4 c. dolin blanc vermouth, 1/4 c green olive brine, 1/4 c water. Store in a jar in the freezer. shake the jar before serving and serve 3oz straight out of the freezer – no need to shake with ice. Add an olive or three.

Mercury always seems so stoic, but he’s really a big goofball. When he’s excited about something he prances around the house like a dressage horse and it’s my favorite thing ever.
